Description

“Come along!” calls Willi Basalt, your little hiking guide, waving as he speaks. “We’re going to explore the history of the Eifel on foot—it’s going to be exciting!”


In Kelberg, three circular hiking trails along the History Trail converge: the “Mysteries of Nature and Life,” “Legendary Schwarzenberg,” and “Farms, Houses, and Huts” trails. Nearby lies one of the area’s wartime sites, the V1 battery on Heltenberg. On the market square, a memorial commemorates the air raid of January 1945. The historic Winkelhof complex on Bergstraße and the old half-timbered parsonage are also worth a visit. Willi Basalt, our hiking guide, has collected many stories along the trails and beckons us with his finger. “If you’d like, I’ll let you in on my secrets.”
